As far back as anyone can know, the ancestors of the Forest Pack wolves - though they were not called by that name at the time - inhabited the lush, nameless valley on the East side of the peninsula. A pack of nomads, displaced from their old hunting grounds by a drought, came upon these strange lands and were allowed to remain as part of a new pack formed by the union of both the indigenous wolves and the nomads. However, as time wore on, a rift began to appear in the pack's ideals, particularly among the newcomers. Roughly half of them, excited by the discovery of this new land and its possibilities, pushed for forward motion and a new way of life while the other half remained set in its old ways. Eventually the former group split off, giving themselves a new name that fit their unpredictable and energetic ways: thus was the Storm Pack born. They traveled up to live in the range of mountains that comprised the Western edge of the peninsula. Though the newly named Forest Pack still offered a safe haven to the latter group, the Stone Pack, true to its new name, moved Northward to the plains and made its home there. And thus have the packs lived since, aware of but mostly indifferent to each others' presence for a century or more.
